Cold cold January penetrates the
bones, freezes joints, ices sinew; lets
none of us alone. The sun’s weak rays fails
each day, to bring forth warmth and cheer. Wintry
wind drives us in with it’s howls and shrieks and
jeers. It catches hold the optimism
that came in with New Year – blowing it far
away. It all but disappears. And search
the calendar to find one thing to make
us merry? The chilling message that it
delivers – there is yet February.

Beautifully written but its not done much to cheer me up this cold and icy morning! I suppose I can take succor in the knowledge of a shared suffering.

Indeed, misery loves company and unbridled optimism can only go just so far.
